What’s On – Plouër-sur-Rance, Dinan, and the Rance Estuary

Plouër-sur-Rance - Dinan

This region has a long cultural history which is reflected in the wide range of activities which are are on offer in the area. Here is a selection of some of the events which are being held during this summer which we hope that you will find interesting.


An open-air exhibition at 3 sites at Plouër-sur-rance and another at Dinard by the celebrated sculptor, Christian LAPIE, of some of his monumental works sculpted in aged oak. The exhibition runs until 7th September.



The 31st international festival of players of the “Harpe Celtique” is currently being held in the town where members of the public can attend concerts, have tuition, and meet the participants in this lovely medieval town whose characteristics lend themselves to this genre of music.The festival runs until 13th July.


Exhibition of paintings and sketches by the renowned Breton artist Yvonne JEAN-HAFFEN entitled “The Forgotten Brittany”, depicting monuments, costumes, and activities which are gradually disappearing with the efflux of time. The exhibition runs until 30th September.

River Rance:

Discover the beautiful valley of the river Rance on a cruise boat which runs from St. Malo and Dinard to Plouêr-sur-Rance throughout the summer. There are many sites of interest during the cruise which are visible only from the river and which you can enjoy over an on-board meal.

Fête des Remparts – Dinan


Every two years Dinan hosts the increasingly popular medieval festival, the "Fête des Remparts" which takes place this year on the 19th and 20th of July 2014. For this Fête the whole centre of the town is transformed into a medieval setting and the public are invited to attend dressed in medieval costumes. Although it is not necessary to do so, those who do take the plunge have free entry to many of the events. dinanThere is entertainment for all ages of spectators - street musicians, fire eaters, medieval jousting tournaments, medieval markets, and much more.....In addition there is the opportunity to discover this beautiful riverside town.
